Where to Stay

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the area there are many options including hotels, motels, BandB's, camping and luxury cabins and house rental.

If you are wanting to experience the little boutique village feel of Canowindra then you can't go past Marlow House. This beautiful home with large verandahs and garden can sleep up to seven people and is only a short walk to the center of the town. Accommodation is available at The Old Vic Inn, The Royal Hotel and The Riverview Motel. If you happy to stay a little further out of Canowindra you can stay at The Falls Guesthouse or if you would like to stay in a cabin with amazing views over the vineyards stay at Everview Luxury Cabins.

If you would like to stay in amongst the vines and closer to Cowra go to the Vineyard Motel, about 5km from the centre of town. A little closer to town is the Country Gardens Motel which has large rooms, some with spas. The centre of Cowra has many options for accommodation and to find all the information contact the Cowra Visitors Centre.

Where to Eat

The only restaurant to have a hat in Cowra is Neila, if you are staying overnight in Cowra you must try and make a reservation, the food is delicious. Surrounded in so much fresh local produce there are many great places to eat in Cowra and Canowindra. Taste Canowindra is open for lunch most days and if you are looking for good coffee in Canowindra go to the Deli Lama or The Rusty Spade.

What to Do

Aside from visiting the cellar doors in the area, there is also the Japanese Gardens one of the biggest attractions in the area. The Visitor's Centre in Cowra has an amazing hologram presentation telling the story of the Japanese POW camp in Cowra during WWII. The Cowra Art Gallery has some great local exhibitions and also plays host to many travelling exhibitions including The Archibald. If you're with the family go and have a look at the Fun Museum on the Sydney Rd. It has an incredible array of paraphanalia from all over the world.

You can go Ballooning in Canowindra or take a look at some of Australia's oldest fossils at the Age of Fishes Museum. The Right Bank Gallery has some beautiful work by local artist and curator of the gallery David Isbester and many others. Canowindra also has many beautiful shops including The Trading Post for beautiful home wares and Little Poppet's for gorgeous children's clothes.
