"Every now and then you get a really good season. The trick is to realise it's happening." David O'Dea

The 2016 Vintage is half completed. Now well and truly into the red varieties and we are seeing some of the best fruit we have seen in years. And not only that, but this year is our biggest intake of organic fruit and it has been an excellent season to be an organic grower.
The old adage "Happy Wife, Happy Life" could apply to winemakers too.

And boy is he happy. Anthony has got himself a great team this year and is loving the quality of fruit coming in from Windowrie and believes it to be the best ever in the wineries history. "Our whites have all come in in pristine condition and the vibrancy of the fruit is delicious. The reds are showing some really rich, dark berry flavours that I can't wait to work with. I'm loving the 2016 vintage!"
This Sunday We will be picking our first vintage of Pique Poul - The Oyster Wine, a new variety to the region, NSW and Australia.
All our members are invited to join us for a particularly quick pick of the Pique Poul at 6am on Sunday the 28th of February followed by a breakfast in the vineyard to celebrate our first vintage of this unique white wine variety.

There are lots of events happening in and around the Cowra and Canowindra region. For more information use the link below to the local events calendar, or follow Windowrie on Facebook or Instagram - or simply send me an email and I'll fill you in.

Music, Wine, Food and Friends

It's my favourite time of year at Windowrie - The beginning of Autumn. Warm days, cool nights and crisp mornings. The sun is rising a little later and setting a bit earlier but the colours in the sky are still as amazing as ever. The vine leaves are starting to turn in colour from the dusty green [...]

5 ways to keep cool in 40 + degrees.

I don't know for how many days we have been at 40 + but it is beginning to feel like a life time. The evenings here are rarely getting below 25 at night and the temp is around 30+ as early as 9 am. This does however coincide nicely with my new years resolution to [...]

How to Pickle Vine Leaves

Our first attempt at pickling vine leaves after 25 years of growing grapes!!! Can you believe it. Here is a short "How To" for those that would like to give it a go.   Step 1: Pick 100 fresh leaves, these are lighter in colour and have a smoother surface with more shine. Step 2: Place each leaf in [...]
