Its a local affair - 100 Mile Dinner to be a Biannual event. It will be back in 2017

Hundreds are expected to join local producers in a night of food, wine and song amongst friends on Canowindra’s main street next March with the relaunch of the Canowindra@home 100 Mile Dinner.

In recent years the Canowindra@home team transitioned what was established as part of the F.O.O.D Week celebrations held each April to a relaxed long lunch.  Whilst the lunch format was well received by locals and visitors to the region, the team have been keen to bring the party back to the historic and quirky main street.

The philosophy of the event will remain true to the 100 Mile Diet concept with all produce sourced from within a 100 mile radius of Canowindra.  “This is a celebration of our produce, the hard work of local producers and delivered with our own version of country hospitality,” said Canowindra@home President Helen Tinney.

Gaskill Street will be cleared to make way for long communal tables that will seat the guests, overhung with colourful lanterns, running the length of Canowindra’s crooked main street. The hypnotic, effervescent sounds of the Trouble with Johnny featuring Cecelia Rochelli will once again entertain and lure revellers out of their chairs and onto their feet.

Previous events have proven so popular that the 100 Mile Dinner to be held in Canowindra sold out in 48 hours, with diners coming from as far as Queensland and Victoria to take part.

In 2014 the Canowindra@home team joined with the Restaurant 9inety 2wo team from Bathurst delivered the perfect pairing of food and wine at the Long Lunch held in April. Feedback from attendees at this event was overwhelmingly positive and has led the Canowindra@home team to once again rekindle this working relationship in planning the dinner to be held in March this year.

“The timing for the event is perfect. Summer produce will still be in abundance and new autumn produce will just begin to be harvested. The evenings are still warm and most importantly there is accommodation available to our visitors,” explained Helen.

The Canowindra@home 100 Mile Dinner will be held on Saturday 7th March 2015 starting at 7.00pm.
